THE GREEN BEAU

Shaving is something that most men do daily. We know that shaving can disrupt the skin's moisture barrier, and depending on the products used can also irritate it. Most shaving products are loaded full of toxic Bulls#!t. Here are some fool proof ways to get the best shave possible .

1. Start your shaving prep by washing your face with warm water and a facial cleanser. This will soften the proteins in your facial hair and open your pores, but steer clear from harsh soaps that can strip away softening oils in the hair and skin. Leave facial cleanser on the face for up to 1 minute and rinse.

Beauness Point: If you have time and wanna go the extra mile a hot towel or washcloth can be an excellent way to open pores, Soften skin, and get some r&r in during the process.

2. A quality pre-shave oil is a must for sensitive skin, and or coarse facial hair. Pre-shave will give you that extra barrier between you and your razor. It will also further soften facial hair and skin for that all so smooth shave.

3. Time for the shaving cream and that all so gratifying lather. There are plenty of options when it comes to shaving lather. You have creams, gels, soaps, and lotions. Your best option really depends on your preference and situation. I would just suggest that you choose an option that has no harsh chemicals that could irritate and leach harmful substances into your skin.No matter what lather option you choose the best way to administer it is with a shave brush. This will create a rich lather that lifts facial hair priming it for your razor making it easier to shave.

Beauness Point: When it comes to a shave brush a badger brush is the most popular for its ability to lift hair follicles and coat them with lather, but there are synthetic bristle brushes available as well. Also you should let the lather sit for about 2-3 minutes. This is a pro move making a one pass shave possible.

4. Prep is over time for the main event, Shaving! Whether you are using a multiple blade, safety razor, or straight razor make sure it is sharp. This is key to a smooth and

irritation free shave. Replace blades if you see any nicks, If you are a frequent shaver it is a good rule to refresh your blade every 2 weeks or so.

Beauness Point: Keeping your skin hot and moist is key. The best way to do this is  by shaving in the shower or right after you get out. When shaving it is best to shave with the grain, this shaving in the direction that your hair is growing. You may get a closer shave going against the grain, but you will make ingrown hairs and razor burn more likely.

5. Finish up with a splash of a quality posts shave or aftershave. This will close pores and soothe freshly shaved skin reducing inflammation.

Beauness Point: A couple of splashes of cold water before you apply your aftershave will rinse the skin of any hair and shaving cream. This will also help with closing pores and reducing inflammation in skin.
